Measure an object

Choose Tools > Measuring > Show Measuring Toolbar, and select a measuring tool.

In the measuring tool dialog box, set the scaling ratio. Set the ratio of page units (such as pixels, centimeters, or inches) to the units (such as centimeters, inches, feet, miles, or kilometers) that you want the page units to represent. The measurements you create will then be calculated according to the scaling ratio.

Do any of the following:

To measure the distance between two points, select the Distance tool , click the first point, and then click the second point.

To measure multiple line segments of an object, select the Perimeter tool , and then click each point that you want to measure. When you are finished, double-click the last point, or position the pointer over the last point until a small circle appears next to the pointer , and click.

To measure the area of an object, select the Area tool , and then continue clicking additional anchor points. To complete the measurement, position the pointer over the first anchor point until a small circle appears next to the pointer , and click.

The measurements appear in the tool dialog box.

Note: If the Measurement Markup option is selected in the measuring tool dialog box, an annotation is created to represent the measurement.
